“ It's important that Tri-cities residents have this kind of access to quality post-secondary educational programs and services. ” Myrna Popove Former Douglas College Board Chair ‘INside June 8, 1993 The Douglas College Newsletter Pinetree Way campus update The release of planning money for Douglas College's Pinetree Way campus may be announced as soon as next week, says Dean of Community Programs & Services Jim Doerr. "Upon release of the funds, we can imme- diately begin architectural planning for a 2,000 FTE facility," says Doerr. Also anticipated in the announcement, which will be made by Advanced Educa- tion, Training and Technology Minister Dr. Tom Perry, is the possibility of coop- ation between our Ministry and the Ministry of Education to build a secon- dary school next door to the Douglas College campus. "An agreement of this sort may allow for some costs to be shared, such as architec- tural and planning fees, and for shared services such as parking and recreational facilities. It would be an agreement in principle that lets us start detailed plan- ning procedures over the summer," says Doerr. The Pinetree Way campus will be located near the Coquitlam Town Centre, and is based on a partnership between Douglas College, the Ministry of Advanced Educa- tion, and the Municipality of Coquitlam. It’s the first phase of an educational facil- ity that will eventually provide 5,600 full-time equivalent spaces.
