What is it?
The Work Study Program is designed to

 

compliment the B.C. St lent Assistance
Program by providing financial assist-
ance to needy students through on-
campus employment. The objective On
the program is to: a) assist students
in meeting educational costs that are
not covered by their > Canada Student
‘Loans and ‘b) provide students with
career related job experiences.

   

 

 

How many Work Study positions are
available at Douglas?

Each year (May 1 - April 30) the
Ministry of Education funds Douglas
College for about 45 ninety hour for-
mula positions. This does not mean
jobs must be limited to 90 hours -

a single job may take up two or thre
formula positions.

  

What kind of work can a Work ‘Study
student do?

Study positions should provide
the student with some experience re-
a to their chosen career. ‘These

s should be one time projects. They
shou Id not be on-going jobs or jobs

that occur each year. A Work Study

Giant can not perform any task ‘that
is currently done in the College by a
union or faculty member.

 

 

 

Some ideas for Work Study jobs are:

sionals in your discipline area
(currently being done in the music
department)

Any student who has demonstrated a fin-
ial need by submitting a Student

Office, and has also submitted a Work
Study application.
