MAD HATTER PAGE 8 FINANCIAL AID NOTICE Periodically students come into our office requesting financial assistance for programs for which we have incor- rect, outdated, or no information at all. It would help us help the stud- ents if you could please notify the Financial Aid Department of any course changes. In particular, we are inter- ested in costs, (tuition, books, sup- plies) associated with the course, start and end dates, and number of weeks in the program. In addition, we are trying to make the students aware of the financial assist- ance programs available before they run into financial difficulty. Asa means of facilitating this, we would appreciate it if you could invite us to any orientation sessions you have for your programs. We will only take a few minutes to give some general in- formation, but it could save weeks o1 agony for desperate students. Thank you very much for your consid- eration of these requests. To: All Faculty and Staff Re: Manuals From: Printing Department, Newton Now is the time to plan those manuals you wish to have sold in the bookstore this coming September. There was a terrific demand for manuals this past semester, over 100 requests totalling some 4,558 manuals. These requests, on top of our regular beginning of semester workload created quite a few problems; to compound the problem, most of these requests came in late August when the printing department is short staffed due to vacations. These late demands also create problems for the bookstore for the same reasons. In order to streamline the system for producing manuals, the following procedures will have to be followed: !) Originator consults with bookstore regarding saleability of manual. A mutual agreement regarding quantities to be sold through the bookstore will be reached. 2) Bookstore issues a purchase order to printing department authorizing the quantity of manuals they will accept. 3) Orginator of manual prepares the material and printing requisition, then submits to printing. Requisitions must include all information pertinent to the printing and distribution. ie.: 20 copies to Richmond Bookstore; 210 copies to Surrey Bookstore; 5 faculty copies; etc. (Has the manual been authorized and signed?) 4) Printing Department will process the request as per requisition instructions. Completed works will be costed out and shipped to the Surrey Bookstore for final pricing and tagging. 5) Surrey Bookstore will then distribute the manuals to satellite bookstores, as per instructions taken from the printing requisition. NOTE: Allow six (6) weeks (30 working days) for printing and | distribution. Manuals received after August 3, 1982, will not be guaranteed a completion date for the start of the fall semester. The Printing Department will give any assistance it can in helping you to bring the production of your manual toa | successful conclusion. If you have any questions, please | contact the Printing Department at Locals 12 & 21, © Newton Campus. Tom Rosamond i
