POLICY STATEMENT: A public institution such as Douglas College must act within the law. As such, the Colleye will seek to ensure that its employees are aware of the terms of copyright law, and take all reasonable steps, as indicated by the following procedures and regulations, to ensure that its employees do not knowingly break the law. PROCEDURES/RULES STATEMENT: l. Printing Requisitions: A. The printing requisition form to be signed by the requestor will carry the guarantee of the requestor that the material to be copied is not protected by copyright. B. The Printing Department staff will have the right to demand proof of copyiny permission for works protected by copyright. C. It will be the requestor's responsibility to secure that permission in writing before submitting the request to printing. D. Such permission will be.displayea on the document to be copied by a notice stating: "this work is reproduced with permission of (name of copyright holder)" é. Colleye Bookstore Printed Materials: A. The responsible signature for printed materials to be sold in the Bookstore will be that of the appropriate director or chairman, B. The director/chairman will provide a notice, as outlined in 1-D. above, as applicable. 3. Library Reserve Collection: A. BOOKS (1) The Library will accept photocopies of entire (or contents of) books for the reserve collection, but will immediately order a copy from the Publisher.
