BCCAA Provincial Championships
final results:

In the semi-final game versus the
Capilano College Blues Nov 1, Douglas
College controlled the play but could not
put a shot past Capilano goalie Christina
D’ Andrea. The lone first-half goal came
when Capilano’s Diana Artuso beat
Royals keeper Erin Hohlbein. The second
half was all Capilano, which added three
more goals by Melissa Artuso, Sheri
Turnowski and Lynn Westerman.

In the bronze medal game against host
UCFV, the Royals prevailed, winning 2-0
on the strength of goals by Lynsey
Burkinshaw and Erica Mendez, and
shutout goalkeeping from Hohlbein.

Royal Lynsey Burkinshaw was named
best midfielder for the tournament.

Golf

The Douglas College golf team took
on UBC for the Bill Day Cup Nov 2-3. In
singles matches over 36 holes, Douglas
College winners were Jarrod Boddy,
Roger Gihespy and Kurt Dalphgond. In
doubles matches UBC prevailed three
matches to one, so the Cup stays at UBC
until next time.

disappointment during their Nov 23
showdown for first place with the
Malaspina Mariners. Now in second
place, their final match before the
Christmas break is Nov 30, against
Camosun.

year player Stacey Reykdal turned in an
incredible effort, with 40 points and 15
rebounds in two games. The Royals host

In this second of five BCCAA League
Tournaments, Jennifer Wong won in
Women’s Singles, Julia Chen and Yayoi
Koshirama placed first in Women’s
Doubles, Thinh and Thcng Nguyen came
third in Men’s Doubles, while Nan San
Niu and Elizabeth Yoon took third in
Mixed Doubles. The next tournament will
take place at BCIT{Jan 11-12.
