Don’t be surprised if something looks familiar in the upcoming Paramount production of Jennifer Eight. The Eureka, California police station is actually the theatre-level entrance to Douglas College. Film star Andy Garcia was on campus on Nov. 16 for production. The Douglas College Foundation will get a new financial award thanks to a rental fee of $2,000 paid by Paramount Pictures, matching-fund money of $2,000 from the B.C. government and $1,000 from Douglas College. The $5,000 total will provide an annual $500 bursary for a performing arts student and will be named the Paramount Studios Performing Arts Award. Another Caribbean cruise? After relishing her Caribbean Cruise last fall, Karen Maynes says she is leaning towards a similar trip using the $250 certificate from P. Lawson Travel she won at the Christmas staff party. Debbie Mc- Fadyen of the Foundation office won a set of garden lamps. Bill Day took home a wall hanging donated Cheque this out! Librarian Jean Cockburn won $199.20 in the Douglas College Foundation’s October 60/40 draw. The draw is held monthly. Of moose and men... What do you give the College President who has everything, and whose favourite colour happens to be grape-ish? A plush purple moose. Bill Day received the critter when Farcus © Farcus Cartoons Inc. 1990 greeted by staff and colleagues on Dec. 2 after returning from a seven-month educational leave. Welcome back, Bill. (See story on page 1.) Nice trip if you can get it... Evelyn Terada of CP& S will be enjoying an exotic Christmas holiday while most of us endure a wet West Coast winter. Evelyn starts off by touring Disney World and visiting friends near Orlando, Florida, and then veers down to Costa Rica to “check out retire- ment property” before heading for It's our new image, Nick. Guatemala to see some Mayan ruins. Congratulations... Margo Lott from the Bookstore has successfully completed the Na- tional Association of College Stores Textbooks Seminar. In the Get Well Soon department... Many people around the College are wondering where Public Informa- tion Officer Bill Bell is these days. Unfortunately, he’s under the weather, and has gone on long-term disability leave. He hopes to return in January, and we hope so too. An early Christmas present... Congratulations to Charlotte Currie of Learning Resources, who recently gave birth to a son, Mat- thew. The latest member of Clan Currie tipped the scales at nine pounds. See you in 1992!
