INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / MARCH 19, 1991 Benefit Briefs! Pharmacare: Co-ordination of Benefits It’s that time of year again! B.C. Pharmacare is the provin- cial agency whereby all B.C. resi- dents are eligible to submit their prescription drug receipts for an 80% reimbursement. March 31, 1991 marks the cut-off date for sub- mission of any eligible 1990 prescription receipts. The 1990 calendar year deduct- ible under Pharmacare is $325 per family. To be entitled to the 80% reimbursement from Pharmacare in excess of the $325, it is recom- mended that you submit all of your 1990 receipts to the Plan before March 31, 1991. The Great-West Life Extended Health policy contains a provision which co-ordinates the payment of prescription drugs with Phar- macare. The Great-West Life plan will pay up to 80% of the Phar- macare deductible ($325) for any eligible expenses, less any unused portion of the Great-West Life $25 calendar year deductible. Great- West Life will then return your prescription drug receipts in order that you may in turn submit them to Pharmacare. Due to Pharmacare’s March 31, 1991 deadline, the Great-West Life normal claim payment turn- around time may be delayed a few extra days. This is the busiest time of year for insurers dealing with Extended Health benefits. Pharmacare claim forms can be obtained from either your local pharmacy or the Personnel Depart- ment. Forward all your claims to: PHARMACARE, Parliament Buildings, Victoria, B.C.
