The men defeated league champion Trinity Western 66-62 Thursday night at Trinity, and finished them off 72-59 Friday night at Douglas College, before a full house of appreciative fans. The women easily disposed of Cariboo College 88-67 Friday night at Douglas, then travelled to Kamloops Saturday to finish the job, with an 87-62 victory. Cariboo and Douglas were tied in league play for first place, with Douglas having the larger point spread. March 10: Douglas vs. Cariboo -- Women Half-Time: 45-32 for Douglas Final: 88-67 for Douglas High Scorers: Claudia Zamprogno, 20 points Andrea Jackson, 15 points March 11: Douglas vs. Cariboo -- Women Half-Time: 42-37 for Douglas Final: 87-62 for Douglas High scorers: Andrea Jackson, 19 points Claudia Zamprogno, 17 points This weekend Douglas College Women’s Basketball team met the women of Cariboo College in a best-of- three series, to determine the winner in the BCCAA finals. The first game was played at Douglas on Friday night. The Royals having the home court ad- vantage led the scoring throughout the game, Claudia Zamprogno leading with 20 points, followed by Andrea Jackson with 15, Janice Halls with 12, and Ethel Atte with 10. The game ended with a score of 88-67 for Douglas. The second game of the series was hosted by Cariboo College on Satur- day. The first half began with Douglas leading in scoring, but Cariboo Goldrush were determined to keep the score close; at half-time the score was 42-37 for Douglas. In the second half, Douglas dominated the offensive and defensive boards, to extend their lead substantially. Leaders in the scoring were Andrea Jackson with 19 points, Claudia Zamprogno with 17, Ethel Atte with 15, and Janice Halls with 11. The Royals ended the game witha score of 87-62 for Douglas, winning the series. As the BCCAA Cham- pions, Douglas Royals will go to the Nationals, where they will come up against the best teams from each province. BADMINTON: B.C.
