That is to say that Friday night, when | went and saw the ‘‘Cover Boys’’ and the Young Canadians, both bands gave encores without much coaxing. at all. Mind you, | myself \“as very appreciative of the encores, as they made up in part for the promotional stunt of starting an eight o'clock concert at 8:45. Once the initial wait was over the night came alive, although the Cover Boys did not generate the re- sponse that they might have, | found them quite enjoyable. Even their new single ‘It’s a New World’, which is to be released in May, had me tapping my feet. The arrival of the Young Canadians’ on stage in- spired an exodus from the seats and sides of the Robson Square hall to right in front of the stage. The first few selections were as loud as and a little more boisterous than the Cover _Boys had been. When the} band broke into ‘‘Goin to} F----- ’ Hawaii’’, even |} found myself in the middle’ of the floor, jumping and shoving with the best of them. This continued for a few more numbers until | felt as wasted and worn out as the band looked. When | was due to collapse the band called it quits, but that didn’t matter, we still called for more. ; Needless to say, the Yong Canadians came back and played their soon to be re- leased single ‘‘This is Your Life’’, and their rendition of the old standard ‘‘Palisades Park’’. All in all it must have been a good concert, | mean...; ‘‘Pumpkin Head’’ was there and so was ‘‘Zit Neck’’ and Alfie passed out on some Chick’s shoulder and my ears are still ring- ing and...| didn’t see Campbell and.... )
