This committee is responsible for recommending education policy to the College Board through the President, on behalf of the faculty, staff and stu- dents. Recent amendments to the Income Tax Act permit partial withdrawals from Registered Retir- ment Savings Plans. Until now, the R.R.S.P. had to be collapsed entirely, with the remaining balance rolled into another R.R.S.P. The ammendment also applies to spousal plans. The amount withdrawn, of course, at- tracts income tax in the current tax year. 2. This is a refreshing change, in the positive direction of reducing paperwork and bureaucratic manoeuvres...and a definite relief, in that the opposite direction might well have occurred: that partial withdrawals by whatever means might have been completely denied, forcing R.R.S.P.s into the “annuity role" for which they were originally conceived.
