Profile The Instructional Media Services Department, better known as IMS, is organized to provide and create instructional materials for Douglas College. To do this, the department provides a wide variety of services which, coincidentally, are all in its name. Instructional: education, information, training; Media: video, graphics, audio, photography, multimedia; Services: consultations, productions, troubleshooting, supplies. hether you need to develop a sophisticated presentation for a media- literate audience or simply want to update your College ID card, the people at IMS are there to help. Here’s a closer look at the people who work in IMS: Bruce Clarke, Media Maintenance Technician Bruce is responsible for handling trouble calls and maintaining the inventory system. He also handles audio production in the new digital multitrack studio as well as audio and video tape duplication. Bruce is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to instructional technology wR : specifications and costs. The IMS crew: (back row, left to right) Ron Panthaky, Christine Doyle, Glen James, Gregory Gregory Davis, Media Production Technician Greg is the newest member of the IMS team. He works with Christine Doyle on a wide range of video and photographic assignments. In addition, Greg operates the new ID card system. Christine Doyle, Media Production Technician Christine is the senior Media Production Technician and handles a wide variety of projects. Her primary responsibility is for video production and photography. She has also been given responsibility for exploring the new multimedia and interactive technologies as they apply to instruction at the College. Jamie Gunn, Graphic Designer Jamie is the senior Graphic Designer. He handles all manner of projects, ranging from designing overhead transparencies and course manuals to fabricating wounds on training dummies. Jamie is also an instructor in the Teaching Excellence Program. Glen James, Media Maintenance Technician Glen is the senior Media Maintenance Technician. He handles equipment maintenance for classrooms and various labs around the College. Due to experience accumulated over the years in his own production business and in the College, he also acts as a sounding board for other staff. C Robert Linschoten, Manager In addition to being responsible for day-to-day operation in IMS, Rob is also charged with looking out for the College’s best interests in the constantly evolving world of instructional technology. Ron Panthaky, Graphic Designer Ron works with Jamie Gunn on a wide variety of materials. He creates posters and other display materials as well as the bulk of the colour overhead projects. Ron also handles photographic assignments and darkroom processing. 8
