V3L 5B2 Dear Mr. Day: Re: Free Student Registrations Available _ For World Congress on Education and Technology Many college and university students tace considerable financial hardship today in their pursuit of higher education. For most, participation in major educational conferences is out of the ques- tion. The World Congress on Education and Technology would like to help some of these students by making special registration passes available, free of charge. The World Congress on Education and Technology, sponsored by the B.C. School Trustees Association, will take place May 22-25, 1986, in Vancouver. The Congress, to be held at B.C. Place and the University of B.C., will offer in excess of 200 sessions and feature more tnan 100 of the world's leading edutech innovators. The one-day passes being offered to college and university students, valued at $40 per day, will grant admission to all sessions at B.C. Place, on May 22, 1986. Sessions May 22 will include, - an address by Dr. Daniel Bell, professor of social science, Harvard University, who will speak on "Technology and the Post- Industrial Society." - an address by zoologist Dr. David Suzuki, University of B.C., on "Towards the Year 2000: The Challenge for Education." - a superpanel examining the Impact of Technology on Education featuring: Norman Goble, World Confederation of Organizations of the Teaching Profession; Hiroshi Azuna, University of Tokyo; Fred D' Ignazio, author; Alan Hofmeister, Utah State University; Seymour Papert, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Thomas Stonier, University of Bradford; Douglas Wright, University of Waterloo; and Dieudonne Leclercq, Universite de Liege. -~ In addition, delegates will be able to tour a world-class exhibit of technological devices, with educational applications, which will be displayed.
