DOUGLAS COLLEGE Mad Hatter Page 9 ARCHIVES DoT RoE € PT LV & EDUCATIONAL LEAVE FUNDS This directive will be used for decision making for the academic year 1984/85, and will be used until further notice. This directive is intended to be a policy statement regarding the calculation and expenditure of educational leave funds. Le EXPENDITURE In any given fiscal year, the allocated sum will not be over~ expended. The actual expenditure will be calculated as the actual cost of replacing the faculty person on leave. This will include any professional development holiday and benefit entitlement, and any benefit that applies during a fiscal year or in more than one fiscal year. CALCULATION OF EDUCATIONAL LEAVE FUNDS The number of faculty going on educational leave will be maximized. Therefore, calcuation of educational leave funds will be the sum of the provisions provided under the agreement for generation of funds, plus the 20% salary savings on regular faculty going on leave. UNALLOCATED FUNDS Any unexpended funds in the educational leave budget will be held pending further recommendation of the Educational Leave Committee. Should funds still remain in the account following these recommendations, the remaining funds will be placed at the disposal of the College-wide Professional Development Committee, to be expended on behalf of the faculty as a whole. Any unexpended funds remaining at the end of the year will be absorbed into the college budget. The intent of this directive is that no funds will be carried forward. WILLIAM L. DAY June 5S, oad.
