Hockey Before a handful of fans who braved one of the first great snowfalls of ‘85, the Douglas College Royals hockey team tied the CKNW 98’ers with a score of 7-7 on February 9th at the Port Moody Arena. The benefit game was staged in an effort to raise money for the Royals and the CKNW Orphans’ Fund. The game was unique, as referees ‘‘awarded’’ penalties to the Royals for “passing too slow’ and ‘travelling too fast.’’ Then, in the last 15 seconds of the game, the 98’ers miraculously scored a ‘‘field goal’’, which tied the game. ; Unfortunately, the major upset of the evening occurred when the CKNW duck, Mr. Quack, was lost in the snowstorm and reported missing. The three stars for the Royals were Randy Jones, Jamie McCloskey, and Chris Klovan.
