LEELA AJLEEUE DOU LEAL AO WL Oo AOCLIVES ARCHIVES COMMUNICATION WORKSHOPS The Orientation Committee and Personnel Development Committees have been at-— tempting to present a follow up series of communication workshops since the early spring session on Effective Communication. Regrettably we have encountered some delays and as a result are planning for the following: 1. Mid to late August: Effective Inter- personal Skills On The Job. A follow up to the March workshop with detail in handling specific situations. 2. September: Written Communication. Effective communication in written form reports, menos, etc. 3. September: Communicating With The Public. Effective communication in terms of public speaking, telephone calls, etc. Tying in with the move to the new facility, the theme of Communication will be continued for the period September to December focusing on orientation to the new facility. Some areas under consideration are; - The Organization: A who's who In the College's divisions. - Programs and Funding: An Inform ation session on what Douglas College is all about. This series will complement the on- going orientation to the new facility on a departmental and as well as or- ganization-wide basis. DISCUSSION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES TO LAST MEETING: Correction: Ed Redmond will be sitt- ing as Chairperson of the Opening Ceremonies Committee (not Gerry DellaMattia, aS previously stated). Both Bill Day, ex-offico, and Gerry DellaMattia will stand as members of this committee. 2. REPORT FROM PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICE: a) Graphic Services - we will not be sharing Kwantlen's services - for major projects, a free- lance’ graphic artist will be hired, also for designing of standard graphics 'for flyers,: posters, etc. b) Mall Displays - Malls and dates have been lined up - recruiting of volunteers for staffing of the booths is under- way. - Gerry suggested name tags for Douglas College Board members, if staffing displays. c) Speakers Bureau - No real need for verification process
