ect. The Vancouver Canucks have made many changes
o their lineup; changes that (finally) include a solid

With the addition of Roberto Luongo, the Canucks
hre not going to be in as much trouble as most people
hink. In the past, shoddy goaltending made incredible

et, mistakes on the blueline will not be as instrumental
in deciding who wins and loses.

After watching the opening game of the season, it
ccurred to me that watching the Canucks now is
roing to be much less stressful than it ever has been.

Thinking to myself, “Don’t worry, Luongo’s got that

one,” replaces previous thoughts of, “NO! Don’t shoot

at Auld/Cloutier! He can’t save those!” and it feels
good.

The Vancouver Canucks are going to be the sur-
prise of the NHL this year, I think. But it’s hard in the
new NHL to predict which team will finish where.
Look at last year for instance. The Carolina Hurricanes
were predicted to finish near last place and they won
the Stanley Cup. There is hope yet Vancouver. There is
hope yet. Sometimes the underdog does get to taste
that sweet, sweet victory.

In other Canuck news, with the acquisition of
goaltender Dany Sabourin (claimed off waivers from
the Pittsburgh Penguins) the Vancouver Canucks have
decided to send goaltender Wade Flaherty to the
Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
