I believe the Students’ Union is... a [place] for students to be able to talk equally

with the college, an organization that cares for students, and every student’s

Union needs to be working to engage students with the college and have the students’

education while also understanding students’ financial struggle to obtain [such an

I feel very passionate about the Students’ Union and feel it’s a great tool for fostering
a positive college environment, but in its current state [the DSU] is being under-
utilized. With my team I will fight to improve the representations students have in
their union and provide members with the tools to have their voices heard.”

I’ve been involved in the pride community since I was [12] years old. My personal
values are around building community and anti-oppression work, and Iam
extremely passionate and dedicated to working with the queer and trans community.
I'm running for pride liaison so we can build the pride community at Douglas. I
would like us to focus on more events and continue to make the pride room a safe
and accessible place for students to come and hang out.”

Just because we are at a college and not a university doesn’t mean that we have to
settle for second-rate representation or second-rate services. A women’s centre or
an aboriginal centre that operates in a space slightly smaller than a parking lot is
not acceptable for campuses that serve nearly 20,000 students, nor [is] a library that
operates at hours that do not adequately serve the needs of the populace. We can
change this if we work collectively.”
