LOCAL 59, COMPONENT 14 From: SECRETARY, GOOD AND WELFARE COMMITTEE August Ist, 1985 Re: GOOD AND WELFARE COMMITTEE A Good and Welfare Committee has now been established at Douglas College which will provide or co-ordinate "outreach" communication and/or assistance to Bargaining Unit members under special circumstances, such as prolonged illness, bereavement, termination of employment, etc. Attached is a copy of the terms of reference for this committee, which have been approved by the Bargaining Committee. Would you please read these to familiarise yourself with the function of the committee. The Chairperson of the Good and Welfare Committee, Anna Raffle, has retired. Anna was instrumental in initiating this committee and remained to complete much of the groundwork. A new chairperson will be elected shortly. Present members of the committee are: Jean Easton, Treasurer Jean Hammer, Secretary Anne Fenton Steve Sale Lita Van Taves Lynn Servedio One representative is to be appointed by each Department for the purpose of communicating with co-ordinators on the committee. A list of departments requiring representation is given on page 3 of the terms of reference. Please send the name of your representative to the Secretary as soon as possible. Initially the Committee would appreciate receiving smal] donations to a float fund which will be used for minor expenses, such as cards. Money for flowers, etc. will be obtained from the B.C.G.E.U. following expenditure. Staff members wishing to donate (we suggest 50¢ to $1.00) should send their donation to Jean Easton. As soon as departmental representatives are known, a list of their names will be published in the Mad Hatter. These representatives are not expected to sit on the Committee.
