The 4l-acre New Westminster site spring by the provincial government and is loc- ated at Cumberland, Sixth Ave. and McBride Blvd. The invitation to campus design consultants went out Dec. 0, 1975 for a meeting Dec. 15, which about 70 attended. As a result the college received 36 submissions from a total of 50 consultants. The Carlberg Jackson firm was one of 24 interested in campus design. Interviews between these firms and college council's Site and Building, Planning and Development Committee (which includes rep- resentation from staff and faculty) were conducted this January. The list was shortened to six and further interviews were conducted, reducing it to three. Completed projects by the remaining candi- dates were viewed by committe members, until one firm was selec- ted for recommendation to college council. At a Jan. 30 council meeting the committee's recommendation was approved and Carlberg Jackson appointed. The next phase will be to complete the professional team with the appoint- ment of a functional programmer and a Design work time and cost consultant. can begin as soon as the college receives word from Victoria on the educational plan and funds. 4 At this stage, users committees of faculty, staff, students and the community will be formed to work with the functional programmer in develop- ing general concepts, and with the design architects in developing final plans.
