CIPS has accredited the College’s two-year Computer Infor- mation Systems Diploma Program for a five year period. CIPS is the leading Computer Science professional association in Canada with approximately 5,000 members across the country. CIPS two- and three-year college program accreditation council is actively in- volved in the performance evalua- tion of computer information technology programs at Canadian community colleges. "Accreditation by the Society will result in national acceptance and recognition of our program by the leading professionals in this field," says John Blackwell, of Douglas College’s Computer Infor- mation Systems program. Blackwell says the College is the first post-secondary institution in Canada to be fully accredited by CIPS. The Society has established three main criteria for accreditation: 1) Technical and computer-based skills which provide the basic foundation of any information systems function; 2) Communications skills which provide the ability to interact in writing and orally with individuals at all levels within an organization; 3) Business skills which provide an appreciation of the environmental structure in which systems are developed and implemented. @ EY sath Ow, ZINTA ZINE AZ 700 Royal Avenue, New Westminster, B.C.
