CHISHOLM has been appointed librarian, effective August Ist, 1974. She is a graduate of Crofton House School and received a Bachelor of Education degree from the University . of British Columbia. She served as a substitute teacher with the Vancouver elementary schools and attended the University of Washington, receiving her Master of Librarianship degree in 1969. She joined Vancouver City College on graduation and was immediately appointed to head their Library Technician Training Programme. After four years at V.C.C., she resigned to obtain some practical library experience and joined the staff of the University of British Columbia library. Since she joined U.B.C. ten months ago, she has been appointed to supervise the cataloguing unit and has a staff of 30 people working for her. Dr. James W. DAVIES has been appointed instructor in philosophy effective September lst, 1974. Jim joined us a year ago to replace Charles Marxer, who had taken leave without pay. Subsequently Charles resigned and the position was re-advertised. Jim has his B.A. and B.D. from the University of Toronto, his M.A. in philosophy from the University of Guelph and his Th.D. from Union Theological Seminary in New York. He is now completing a Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Waterloo. Willem den HERTOG was appointed to Douglas College in August, 1973 to fill a temporary position established to allow for the. development of a multi-purpose lab system - both curriculum and facilities.
