New Westminster City Council changes parking meter regulations Residents will continue to plug parking meters Downtown even on Sundays Kristina Mameli news editor ew Westminster residents will be forced to continue plugging Downtown parking meters even on Sundays and holidays following a recent decision by New Westminster City Council. The council decided to change regulations following a report which projected that the city could potentially generate an extra $180,000 annually during the 52 Sundays and 10 statutory holidays, all for a mere $17,000 in enforcement fees. In combination with potential revenue from parking tickets, that number could realistically climb to $213,000. On a trial basis October 1, the city launched paid Sunday and holiday parking. Enforcement started with warnings and fines were imposed as of November 1. Since then, a total of $54,870 worth of tickets have been issued during the new hours of parking enforcement. At the time of this writing, upwards of $14,000 has been collected so far. so you car Student Tax Prep $29° plus FREE SPC Card?
