uilding SUCCESS... MAD HATTER 8 Foundation Campaign Built on Success “The amount raised for student aid during the Foundation's internal first annual campaign keeps climbing and now has reached the $20,550 Mark. An analysis of the number of people giving in the campaign shows that Douglas College staff, faculty, board members and administration are truly a generous lot. Over 18 per cent of the total number of people asked to give, actually gave. The response rate given by many fundraising organizations shows that a good campaign to raise funds in a corporation is in the neighborhood of six percent. Well done! If you are interested in seeing how the internal campaign is going, just walk past the Student Society office and you'll notice a board with up-to-date figures on how much has been raised. Don't forget that if you haven't given a donation to the campaign, it still isn’t too late. Just drop by the Foundation Office rm 4800A and fill out a pledge form. A pledge of $60 for the year wouid mean as little as $5 taken off your pay cheque a month. And where does all that money go? The Douglas College Foundation has set up an endowment fund. The interest from that endowment fund is used to provide bursaries, scholarships and emergency loans for students in need. Patty Lewis, the financial aid officer, along with a committee of College personnel decide who is entitled to the aid. This year already, many needy students have been helped out by the proceeds of the endowment fund. And now for a little gossip from the Carillion? Terry Leonard turned 35 on March 5 and I understand that the only difference he is feeling with the added age is an uncontrollable urge to be near plastic. Bill Morfey (can you feature this?), just returned from a holiday in Cuba. When ideologies clash, you know that 5Bill must have gotten a great package deal un the holiday. eaisge FOUNOOTION
