a= | DOUGLAS COLLEGE | CHINA EXCHANGE PROGRAM _| | ARCHIVES On behalf of the Department of External Affairs, the AUCC is aagea to announce the exchange of second language teachers with the People's _ Republic of China for 1979. A group of three specialists in English as a second language will teach at the Dwangchow Language Institute, Canton, for three months from May to July 1979. A second group of three specialists will teach French as a second language at the same Institute from July to September 1979. The successful candidates will be Canadian citizens, members of the teaching staff of a Canadian university or college with experience in the teaching of French or English as a second language and with the ability to teach highly-motivated and well-grounded graduate students who will themselves have at least three to five years' experience as teachers of French or English in China. For each candidate, room and board, a monthly allowance of 200 yuan, medical care plus a small allowance for personal expenses as well as internal travel and a week-long tour at the completion of the program are provided by the Chinese government. International return travel by the most direct economy-class route from the candidate's place of residence to Canton and a supplementary monthly allowance of $700 for 3 months is provided by the Canadian government by way of an individual contract with each participant. Other incidental travel expenses, hospitality expenses or charges for professional services are the responsibility of the candidate. There exists no possibility that the Chinese government will allow spouses or children of participants to take part in the program.
