Gerry is presently Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. February 27, 1989 Dear Bill and all: A quick note to let you know that we are in the midst of recruiting for the 1989 school year. The deadline for applications in Canada is March 15 so if there is anyone at Douglas who is interested, they should apply quickly. I have been told that there has been a good deal of interest in Canada but most of it is coming from Ontario. Maybe it is because nobody has let you in B.C. know about it. There is soon to be an announcement that there will be two new colleges next year. A men’s and a women’s college both located in Dubai, probably the major commercial centre in the Emirates. This will mean that we will need 2 new college Directors (Principals), plus 8 or 9 Division Heads (Deans), several Program Supervisors (Depart- ment Heads), and a number of Faculty. Faculty will be needed in English (ESL), Business, Office Administration, Computer Studies, Health Sciences, Mathematics and Physics, Accounting, Information Systems, and Electronics, Chemical and Aviation Technologies. Not all new people will be assigned to Dubai as there will be some of the existing personnel who will be reassigned to that city. Some of the new recruits will be appointed to fill the resulting vacancies in the ex- isting colleges. In addition to college directors, the administrative positions avail- able are: Technology, Academic, Health, Business, and Communications Division heads; Electronics, Computer Technology, Business Admin., Accounting, Marketing,, English (ESL) and Foun- dations Supervisors. If anyone wishes to contact me for more information on either the vacancies or the general situation here, I would be glad to speak to them. I might even be a good idea if anyone does decide to apply to let me know so that I can provide a recommendation. My home num- ber is: 011-971-2-216-947. My office number is: 011-971-2-341-153. Please remember that our time is 12 hours ahead of yours! I don’t function very well at 2:00 a.m.! Applications with full resume should be sent to: - Educansult Limited 200 Adelaide Street West Toronto, Ontario, M5H 1W4 oO
