Joyce's preliminary work has identified major topics to be pursued: What is the impact of conservation measures, particularly after fishery closures? What are the economic and social impacts of a fishery based on quota holders (particularly when the active fleet is much smaller than the number of license holders). Finally, there is the issue of information itself. “In light of the fact that this fishery pays all management and scientific costs associated with it,” writes Joyce, “there is some question about the ‘ownership’ and accessibility of information. This is a topic that is crucial to all fisheries researchers.” $50 (includes GST; automatically enters you for door prize draws for a computer and other exciting prizes) For tickets call the Douglas College Foundation at 604-777-6176 Proceeds go to endowments to benefit students of the Athletics and Hotel & Restaurant Management Programs BC Nursing programs adopt national standards Changes are coming for nursing education at Douglas College and across the country.
