INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / FEBRUARY 5, 1991 Drop-in Computer Information Sessions The Systems and Computing Department is excited about start- ing the “Drop-In” computer ses- sions for employees. The sessions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. in room 3302A (an Employee Computer Workroom). The sessions will be open for any questions you might have on micro-computer hardware and software issues. We will be expanding the ses- sion format to include a short for- mal session on various topics followed by an open problem solv- ing session. The topics will come from ideas suggested by those in- terested and from the department's knowledge of “most often asked questions.” The selected “Topic of the Week” will be announced well in advance in the Insider. We also are looking forward to any suggestions you may have regarding the format of the ses- sions, potential topics, and any problems you may have related to the chosen time slots. Call us at local 5330, send a brief note, or drop-in to the department to make vour ideas known. Jim Doerr @ Money * Money * Money This is the time of year when many of us get all excited about Registered Retirement Savings Plans. While there are good reasons to make contributions ear- lier in the tax year, many leave the decision until now. There have been no rule chan- ges for the 1990 tax year. The limit is $3,500 for members of a pension plan, so D.C. employees may con- tribute to their RRSP the difference between $3,500 and the total of D.C. pension deductions for the 1990 calendar year. The 1991 tax year will be a much different story, but more on that at another time.
