DOUGLAS COLLEGE ARCHIVES MAD HATTER PAGE 3 In search of ahome THREE ANIMALS IN SEARCH OF A HOME -A 'Tail' of a Reluctant Search- I'm moving from a house to an apart- ment and--aside from not being allowed --it's unfair to coop animals up ina small space. So I have three animals in search of a home. "BUZZ"- "Buzz" is a two-year-old male golden Cocker Spaniel who is full of life and loves everyone. (He makes a terrible watch dog.) He's also a real con artist who will sit and "beg" any time you're even near food. (He taps you on the knee with his paw if you ignore him.) His speciality-- other than racing around the yard near supersonic speeds (hence his name) -- is the"starving dog" routine which he goes into shortly after eating. : Sitting by his recently-emptied bowl, he turns his large, soft brown eyes in your direction and makes soft whimpering sounds, in his throat. It takes a really "hard" heart to refuse. (You've got to though, he'll eat your dinner as well as his own, if you don't). His bark is quiet and he sits patiently at the door when it's time "to go". "Buzz" will make a great companion for anyone with a large yard. "MINEAUX" - "Minners" is the Dowager Queen of New Westminster (at least she thinks so). She's a regal cross between a Havana Brown and Siamese. A music lover, she sits on top of the stereo or the piano in utter contentment-- except when you play "New Wave" or hit a wrong note. (She stalks out of the room with a most displeased look on her face). "Minners" is dark brown (almost black) with white feet which she keeps meticulously clean. She likes dark corners and quite often the only way you can find her is by the white feet. At dinner time, she sits by her bowl and gives you a "we demand to be fed" look. Once she decides you're worthy of her attention, she leaps into your lap, settles down, closes her eyes and purrs. (There is very little sound but the vibration is something else!) She loves to roam, but is always back by dinner. There will only be one "Mineaux" and, in a way, that's un- fortunate. "MOUSE" - "Mouse" is an 8-month-old Calico who enjoys conversation and high places. She loves exploring and bugging "Minners". She loves playing "cat in distress" if she's locked out (She cries with great heartwrenching emotion until you open the door, upon which she bounces through with a chirp "thank you" as though nothing ever happened). She is often found in closets and behind doors (she loves to attack shoe laces). She also loves sitting in laps and 'talking' (her discussions range from world politics to the state of the cat food industry--a problem near and dear to her heart). If you have room in your heart and home for any or all of these small, great creatures, please call Jim Adams at Surrey (local 225), or drop a note in the campus mail. ~ Youth Employment Program Applications are now available at ‘ the Student Placement Office in N.W.
