j CHIME 3 2 | Ss SPOnkRTrs This fall, a new college hockey league will commence operations with four charter members - British Columbia Institute of Technology Forestry, Columbia Bible Institute, Douglas College and Trinity Western College. The league, to be called the Fraser Valley College Hockey League (F.V.C.H.L.), will play a thirty (30) game schedule plus playoffs (a best-of-three semi- final and a best-of-three final). The majority of games will be played in the Abbotsford Arena and new Langley Municipal Arena. A constitution for the league has been approved and an Executive Committee consisting of two representatives from each College plus a Chief Statistician and a Referee- in-Chief has been formed. They are: B.C.I.T. Forestry - Mr. Henry Lenko (Treasurer) - Dr. Chuck Chestnut Columbia Bible Institute - Mr. Wally Unger (Vice-President) - Mr. Gary Loewen Douglas College - Mr. John Patterson (President) - Dr. Len Millis Trinity Western College - Mr. Peter Andres (Secretary) - Mr. Harley Atkinson Chief Statistician - Mr. Henry Hildebrand Referee-in-Chief - Mr. Glen Cross The formation of the Fraser Valley College Hockey League has generated considerable enthusiasm amongst the members of the Executive Committee and amongst prospective players at the four colleges. The Executive Committee feels that the league will provide fans with an entertaining brand of hockey and that it will also provide players with the opportunity to develop both hockey skills and sportsmanship in a competitive situation. It is hoped that members of the general public will come out to support the league in its infancy and cheer their students on.
