Spring Break is Fixed pring Break, February 21 and 22, is being used to offer acces- sible professional development ac- tivities to faculty. This decision was taken by the College Wide Faculty Professional Development Committee at its November 26th meeting. It is an attempt to partially ad- dress the concern, voiced by facul- ty, that common, untimetabled opportunities do not exist for professional development. Details as to the Spring Profes- sional Development Program will be available shortly. @ Douglas’ toughest game of the tournament came against host Cariboo. The Royals faced a tena- cious press and a physical style of play that favoured Cariboo for the first half, as they jumped to a 40-29 half-time lead over Douglas. Douglas applied its own press in the second half as they pressed and ran the entire second half to make up the deficit and, after eight lead changes, pulled ahead and buried Cariboo in the last two minutes on a three point shot by Erin Thomas that extended the lead to nine for the moment, and a final score of 81-73 for Douglas. Lorraine Denis and Erin Thomas were outstanding in breaking the Cariboo press, while Carrie Car- lesen netted 23, Carol Stanford scored 18 and Lana Evdokimenko had 14. Lorraine Denis and Carrie Carlsen were named to the All-star team. Royals are now 13-1 in the pre-season.
