INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / DECEMBER 12, 1989 Homecoming 1989 Ball Honours Twentieth Anniversary of Douglas College Nearly 100 friends of Douglas College gathered at the Hotel Geor- gia for a formal dinner and dance to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Douglas College and the 1st An- niversary of the Alumni Associa- tion. The honoured guests at the gathering included Stewart Graham, considered by many to be the “father of Douglas College,” Bill Day, president of Douglas Col- lege, Dr. Pauline Hughes, chairman of the Douglas College Board, and president of the Douglas College Alumni Association, Ted Jang. Stewart Graham, the keynote speaker gave a riveting account of the five year period that led up to the opening of Douglas College. As Ted Jang later noted, “Stewart's amazing stories of challenges faced and conquered to get this College off the ground really shows us how far we’ve come in twenty years.” Other special guests included former Douglas College Board chairmen Helen Casher and Cliff Murnane, and the former College bursar Bill Morfey. Faculty and staff from both Douglas and Kwantlen College came to enjoy the event. Charter student Bruce Clarke and his wife Helen were also honoured at the event. By all accounts the food was fabulous and the entertainment superb. The Douglas College Alumni Association extends its sincere thanks to all those who came out to celebrate this special event with us. @ Th YEARS OF MAKING A DIFFERENCE 1970-1990 Copenhagen Trip Won!
