HIRING: ASSISTANT EDITOR

The Assistant Editor is responsible for editing and fact-checking the entirety of the newspaper, as well as managing special tasks as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief.

Must haves:

+ A thorough understanding of the Canadian Press Stylebook as well as the Other Press’ own style guide
+ Exceptional editing and writing skills

* Experience with fact-checking newspaper articles and plagiarism prevention tactics

+ — Able to work under a tight deadline

*  Awillingness to contribute original articles on a weekly basis
Pay: $700/month

HIRING: ARTS EDITOR

Are you passionate about the arts? When there are cultural happenings, both at Douglas College and beyond, are you
the first to know? Then you just might have what it takes to be the Other Press’ next Arts Editor.

The Arts Editor is responsible for coordinating the Arts section on a weekly basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for seven to

eight quality, edited arts articles each week—whether by fielding and editing contributions or by writing articles him or herself.

Must haves:

* Experience with substantive and copy editing (including a strong command of CP style)
* — Experience and familiarity with conducting interviews and arts-style article writing

+ Interest in student and community news and events

+ Strong writing skills

*  Past/present involvement with the college arts scene

Pay: $470/month

The Opinions Editor is responsible for coordinating the Opinions section on a weekly basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for

six quality, edited opinions articles each week—whether by fielding and editing contributions or by writing articles him or herself.

Must haves:

* Experience with substantive and copy editing (including a strong command of CP style)
* Good knowledge of current events

+ Interest in student and community news and events

+ Strong writing skills

Pay: $470/month

HIRING: MULTIMEDIA EDITOR

Are you about more than just plain ol’ words? Looking to build a visual portfolio while developing your skills? The Other Press is hiring a Multimedia Editor!
The Multimedia Editor is responsible for creating regular content primarily for the newspaper online audience. The successful applicant will produce

everything from videos for our YouTube channel to engaging graphics for the Feature each week as well as assisting with overseeing the website.

Must haves:
* Video experience and equipment

* Understanding of video and phot editing software
* — At least basic knowledge of Wordpress

Pay: $500/month
