Presently, agencies such as the local Social Services office, crisis intervention, health, and information services are looking ‘to. iVictoria for: funding. -; - att Because the Human Resources Minister feels such grants should be a community affair, he is asking community agencies to work together on setting up their own Community Resource Board. Such boards might include members of agencies, concerned lay persons involved in community social planning, and members of larger groups receiving such aid, such as tenant Groups, welfare rights groups, and labour and business organizations concerned. At a recent seminar, the Minister of Huan Resources, the Honourable Norman Levi . told 200 Surrey comunity workers of the need for the community to form its own administrative group, of and for its own needs. He indicated that this metked was designed to eliminate Guplication of services 2nd acke sure that individual coliunity nesds would be met. But he wishes to allow each community to create its own board. The Surrey seminar, entitled "The Future of Social Services in Surrey", elicited much coriient from pecple attending, and many diverse opinions were expressed. Concern for traditional and minority gzreups, 2nd questions on the structure ,procedure, and criteria of a Community csource Board were among the many svhjects brought up in discussion.
