Room 2201 (large lecture theatre) Topic: "The Sullivan Report" and "The Provincial Access Report" What Do They Mean for Douglas College? Speakers: Dr. Elmer Froese, Superintendent, School District #41 (Burnaby) Mr. William L. Day, President, Douglas College The Sullivan Report, "A Legacy for Learners", was published this past fall, as a result of a Royal Commission. Its impact on K-12 is al- ready being felt, as we have seen through recent announcements from the Ministry of Education. The Report of the Provincial Access Committee, entitled "Access to Advanced Education and Job Training in British Columbia", was released to the public in September, 1988. It has already been the subject of discussion between members of a Provincial Consultation Team, which visited Douglas College at the end of October, and rep- resentatives of the various constituencies within this institution. Both of these documents will have significant impact on post- secondary institutions. Therefore, it is important that we know what they say, and what it means for Douglas College. Will the students coming from secondary school be different from those now electing to attend Douglas College? How will the K-12 curriculum change? What will be the impact on our curriculum? Are we talking about more integrated curriculum? Will there be more opportunity for cooperative relationships with our School Districts? Dr. Froese will make a presentation on the Sullivan Report; Bill Day will do the same for the Access Report. A question period will follow. Please plan to attend.
