Submission Guidelines to the editor at: othereditor@yahoo.ca The weekly deadline for submissions is Wednesday for publication the following Wednesday. Letters to the Editor, vacant sections, and “time-sensitive” articles (weekend news, sports, and cultural reviews) will be accepted until Saturday noon and can be submitted Top o’ the morning to ye! Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Don’t you just love this holiday? I do. Especially here on the Lower Mainland where our fabulous Celtic Fest features one of North America’s fastest-growing St. Patrick’s Day parades. And it’s not just the luck of the Irish that we have to thank, it’s also the luck of the Scottish, and the Chinese, and all the other communities and cultures that worked together to make the parade such a success on March 13. This year, over 50,000 people gathered along the parade route in Vancouver, and at least half that many spilled into the downtown pubs and restaurants afterwards. What a blast! But don’t feel too badly if you missed out on the parade. After all, that was just a practice run for the real deal on Match 17. That’s when you’ve really got to bring your A game. And your extra liver, if you have one. Before you start dancing on tables and News fergie1b @telus.net Opinions opinionsubmit@ hotmail.com banishing snakes, however, take a wee moment out to read your Other Press. News Editor Brandon Ferguson has whipped up another knee-slapper of a “News to Amuse, Peruse, and Confuse,” the opinions section talks—and rocks— youth votes, A&E helps you come down from St. Paddy’s Day with a fine selection of Irish cinematic treats, Features features Tennessee Williams, and Sports guys Darren and Travis Paterson tackle the issues of shootouts, slam-dunk competi- tions, and home-run derbies. Before you go, in case I don’t see you on Thursday, pull up a pint of the black stuff and join me in this traditional St. Patrick’s Day toast right now: “Saint Patrick was a gentleman, who through strategy and stealth, drove all the snakes from Ireland, here’s a toasting to his health. But not too many toastings, lest you lose yourself and then, forget the good Saint Patrick, and see all those snakes again. Beannachtam na Feile Padraig! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!” All other submissions should be forwarded to the appropriate section editor. Please include your name, phone number/email address, and word count, and submit via email as an MS Word.doc attachment to the attention of the appropriate editor.
