I had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Alex Ng of the Seaker Chan
Foundation of Hong Kong regarding the proposal to form a consortium
with two other colleges to provide language instruction and business
instruction in Hong Kong using Canadian Curriculum. We are
continuing to assess the potential of this opportunity and it appears
likely that a proposal will be coming to the Board for consideration
in September.

Internal Matters - Education

 

The self-study has completed its draft report and we are now
preparing for the visit of the external review team in October.
The College appreciates the work done by the Steering Committee
and the other committee members who have been working on this project
for the past year. Special thanks to Dr. Gerry DellaMattia, Bert
Wales and Walter Hogg.

The Governance document is in the Board package tonight. This
represents the completion of the governance review process that
began about three years ago and resulted in intensive discussions
over the past year. These revisions to the governance system will
be presented to the College community at an assembly scheduled
for September 10th, for implementation in October of this year.

With the resources received from the Excellence in Education fund
the College is proceeding with curriculum work in the area of
Entertainment Arts. We expect to be able to begin the Stagecraft
part of the program in January of 1987 and the Arts Management
component in September of 1987. The Board can expect to see
proposals in this area over the next semester.
