Se ' GE Ol | EG DOUGLAS C ARCHIVES d Hatter Page 7 Athletics Continued: Badminton Robin Ryan, a name synonymous with badminton at Douglas, will be coach- ing our team. Look for a lot of home competitions as we show off our eight court facility to the rest of the lower mainland. Golf and Curling Gert Van Niekerk, whose teams did so well last year, (2 silver medals), is again masterminding the golf and curling teams. Competition is always keen in these sports and thanks to Gert (who vol- unteers his time), Douglas students have the opportunity to participate in these activities. Men's Volleyball Ross Dunning will be the men's volleyball coach for this year and like the women, there is a lot of room for improvement. The first tournament is November 24 at B.C.I.T. and I wish both teams the best of luck. In closing, I would like to give a very large verbal bouquet to Bob Corbett for the part he played in the selection of coaches for this year. One of the most important jobs I have is to select the best person to coach our students; (my theory being that a poor coach is worse than no coach) and Bob is definately excell- ent at finding the markers along the route.
