Summer's here...with a vengeance. What does summer mean to you? It’s the season for beaches, lakes, boats, picnics, time away from your office...all those summery things. The days are long, the nights are short, and soon all that glorious Okana- gan fruit will be pouring into the Lower Mainland. There’s not quite as much activ- ity around the College as we're used to, but it’s busy enough to be looking for- ward to summer vacations. Meanwhile, here’s some campus news... Staff moves... Susan Hammond is now back in CP&S and will be sharing her position as Peri- natal programmer with Kathie Lindstrom. Ryan Hill is now the new shipper/re- ceiver in the Bookstore. The Library’s Lisa Desai resigned to be an at-home mother. Her replacement is Susan Fleming who is the new overdue/interli- brary loan borrowing assistant; replacing Susan is Lisa Baer. om ee Baerly back... After working at Douglas College for more than five years, Lisa Baer left two years ago to teach English in Japan. After a year in Nagasaki, she travelled through China, into Russia and on to England, then travelled down to Zimbabwe to spend 7 months living in Africa. Lisa re- turns to Douglas College as the reference and orientation assistant in the Library. Going south... Tracy McCaskill in the Registrar’s Office is taking a leave of absence to teach Eng- lish in Bolivia. Her replacement is Barbara Larkman, who recently returned to the New Westminster area from New Zealand. Su’s unionizing... Shipping and Receiving Clerk Su Ander- son has two bits of news; first, she’s been elected to the executive of BCGEU Local 703 as a member-at-large. Second, she Do these models look familiar? As we told you last month, two people from Nicaragua are being trained in media production in Instructional Media Services this summer, and will be on cam- pus until August. They’ll be working closely with Graphic Artist, Jamie Gunn. We’re moving... The Public Information Office will be located in Room 4700 effective May 31 (formerly the Personnel Office). Production is finished on the updated version of the Douglas College promotional video which gives a lively 12-minute overview of Douglas College programs, services and facilities. "It’s a useful tool for anyone who wants to give a short introduction to Douglas College," says Public Information Officer Brad Barber, whose staff worked with Instructional Media Services on the up- date, which involved shooting some new footage, updating the information, and new music and narration.
