Please contact the Public Information Office, Room 4840, local 4805. aS aa a ga ra | : | Free Jazz Concert and Party at Douglas The Douglas College Jazz Band has reason to celebrate, and on Friday, November 25, the public is invited to join them at a record release party for their fourth album, "At we expect that he’ll sit in with us for a couple of numbers, before playing with his quartet." One night before the record release party, listeners can whet This Point in Time." A full evening of entertainment is planned. Selections from the record form the core of a perfor- mance by the award-winning jazz band. Then guest ar- tists, the Roy DOUGLAS 17 AK their appetites at a free performance of the Jazz Band and the Douglas College Concert Band. On Thursday, November 24, the two groups will present their an- nual fall season concert. The Con- cert Band, an Reynolds Quartet, will play. Reynolds is well known to local jazz fans for his days with the Stan Kenton Band, and as a leader of his own groups. He is also a longtime friend of the Douglas College Jazz Band. Blair Fisher, Jazz Band Direc- tor, remembers, "The first year that I took over as director of the band, he did a concert as a guest soloist with the group. So acclaimed student en- semble, will play a full program of works by Verdi, Holsinger, and Grainger, while the Jazz Band will give the audience a short sample of their talent. Fisher says, "We’re just going to do a few tunes on Thursday. On Friday, we’ll play more ex- tended sets." Tickets for the Jazz Party/Concert sell for just $5.00 continued on page 2
