Blues Take It on the Nose for the Second Week by Flash Gordon The Douglas Rugby Club Blues lost both matches in inter- lock play to the Brit Lions of the Vancouver Rugby Union. The First Div game went 27—10 in favour of the Brits and the Brits’ Seconds blanked the Blues 18-0. While the results don’t sting as much as the run-in with the Kamloops boys, it sure doesn’t help the standings. The First Div Blues sit last place in Fraser Valley Rugby Union with a record of 2-10, and the Second Div are 1-12. If only the school had more involvement in the club, maybe it would get its act together. Flash’sWeekly Five = Fitness Tips 1. Lift weights, not donuts. 2. Walk to the store instead of driving a short distance (unless you live in the West Hastings area). 3. Drink plenty of water during the day and stay close to the bathrooms. 4. Join a sports team. 5. Take the pizza place off of speed dial. Royals Find Gold in the Desert! Brian McLennon, OP Contributor There was more glitter in Kamloops than the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles. The Douglas College Badminton team attended the BCCAA Provincials hosted by University College of the Cariboo. Traditionally known as national powerhouse, the team lived up to their reputation and shone brighter than mid-day sun in the desert. Out of the shadow of her brother was the other Davis...Sarah. Playing in her third year for the Douglas Badminton squad, Sarah has been relatively successful. In her first two league tournaments, she managed to reach the quarter-finals, losing out both times to Malaspina’s Michelle Henkel. However, this past weekend, Davis final- ly defeated her nemesis, Henkel, to take home the provin- cial gold. Bollocks Flash Gordon Despite what most experts will say, Sports Development Officer, Brian McLennon, is actually a Syracuse Orangemen fan. Even though he may deny it, McLennon has been secretly thrilled since the boys from Syracuse won the 2003 NCAA Championship. It’s an inside joke shared with sports editor Flash Gordon who has always been an Orangemen fan. McLennon comes from Toronto, Flash is | from Ottawa, so naturally they have to be polar opposites. Leafs and Senators; Tastes Good and Less Filling; Night | and Day; and when it comes to basketball it’s Hoyas and Orangemen. When McLennon says he cheers for the Hoyas of Georgetown, he really means “Go Syracuse!” -BCCAA Weekend Scoreboard BCCAA Men's Basketball Feb. 20 Kwantlen 76 UNBC 82 Douglas 67 Cariboo 92 Camosun 85 Langara 69 Malaspina60 Capilano 75 Feb. 21 Okanagan 77 _ Fraser Valley 85 Kwantlen 66 Cariboo 83 Douglas 76 UNBC ia Camosun 74 Capilano 101 Malaspina 74 = Langara = 83 BCCAA Men GPW L PF PA Piss 1 Cariboo 17 14 3 1524. 1251 28 4273 2 Fraser Valley 16 13 3 1256 1157 26 +99 3Camosun. 16 11 5 1236 1165 22 +471 SCapdano =616. 9 7 «#1275 1209 18 466 4Kwantlen 16 8 8 1133 1189 16 -56 GUNBC.. 17 8 9 1240 1299 16 57 7 Douglas 16 7 9 1279 (281 14 2 8 Langara 16 7 9 1215 1265 14 -50 9 Malaspina 16 3 13 1059 1237 6 -178 10 Okanagan 16 1 15 1273 1439 2 -166 BCCAA Women’s Basketball Feb. 20 Kwantlen 53 UNBC 60 Douglas 40 Cariboo 54 Camosun 33 Langara 74 Malaspina 59 Capilano 63 Feb, 21 Okanagan 57 Fraser Valley 71 Kwantlen 41 Cariboo 38 Douglas 61 UNBC , Camosun 30 Capilano 71 Malaspina 60 Langara 77 BCCAA Women GP W L PF PA PIS + 1 Fraser Valley 16 16 0 1084 660 32 +424 2 Cariboo 17 12 5 913 765 24 +148 3 Langara 16-11 5 972 857 22. +115 4 Okanagan 16 9 7 1026 912 18 +114 5 Kwanten 16 9 7 899 887 18 +12 6Capilano 16 8 8 971 866 16 +105 8 UNBC 17 7 10. 912 994 14 -82 7 Malaspina 16 5 11 980 1054 10 -74 9 Douglas 16 412 835 1047 6 -212 10Camosun 16 016 658 1208 0 -550 BCCAA Men's Volleyball Feb. 20 : CBC 3 CNC 0 26-24, 25-17, 25-19 Cariboo 3 Douglas 0 25-18, 31-29, 29-27 Camosun 3 Langaral 25-18, 25-18, 22-25, 25-14 Capilano 3 Malaspina 1 21-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18 Feb, 21 COTR3 Okanagani1 23-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 CBC3 = Cariboo 1 25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22 CNC3 Douglas 0 25-20, 25-15, 25-21 Capilano 3 Camosun1 —25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 25-20 Malaspina 3 LangaraQ —- 25-22, 25-23, 25-18 BCCAA Men MP MW ML GW GL PTS 1Capiano 18 17.——1 53 10 34 2 COTR 18 14 4 46 21 28 3 CBC 18 13 > 43 22 26 4Camosun 18 11 a 39 26 22 5 Malaspina 18 10 8 38 29 20 6 Cariboo 18° 9 9 36 33 18 7 Okanagan 18 8 10 a2 3D 16 8 CNC 18 4 14 16 47 8 9 Douglas 13.2 16 9 50 4 10 Langara 18 2 16 it 50 4 BCCAA Women’s Volleyball Reece Page 22 e http://www-otherpress.ca Feb. 20 CBC 3 CNC 1 26-24, 25-19, 20-25, 25-17 Cariboo 3 Douglas 0 26-24, 25-19, 25-17 Langara 3 Camosun 0 25-9, 25-20, 25-8 Malaspina 3 Capilano0 25-17, 25-16, 25-12 Feb. 21 Okanagan 3 COTR 0 25-16, 25-17, 25-14 Cariboo 3 CBC 0 25-20, 25-18, 25-21 Douglas 3 CNC 0 25-15, 25-16, 25-15 Capilano 3 Camosun1 24-26, 25-15, 25-9, 25-20 Malaspina 3 LangaraO —-25-13, 25-10, 25-17 BCCAA Women MP MW ML GW GL PTS 1 Malaspina 18 18 0 4 7 36 2 Capilano 18 135 42 25 26 3 Langara 18 12 6 38 26 24 4 Cariboo 18 12 6 42 24 4 5 Douglas em UMS 34 32 20 6 Okanagan 18 9.9 28 55 18 7 CBG 18 6 12 29 39 12 8 COTR 18 > 13 28 45 10 9 CNC 18 4 4. 208 8 10 Camosun 18 1 oi G6 33 2 BCCAA Badminton Provincials *Top two in each category will represent BC in the CCAA National Championships in Nanaimo Men’s Singles 1.
