At the end of the second week of classes, January 1998 Semester Total Legend: CFull Time At the end of the second week of classes, September 1998 Semester Total David Lam Campus welcomes Pinetree secondary students Grade 12 science and math students from Pinetree Secondary School are attending Douglas College this semester — sort of. Pinetree Secondary experienced significant growth this year, and approached Douglas College about providing space for their overflow classes. As the David Lam Campus is at 60% capacity, the College entered into an agreement with the neighboring high school and agreed to provide limited space (classrooms and labs) for the 98/99 academic year only. As part of this agreement, Douglas College receives extra money for David Lam Campus services such as security, cleaning and technicians, as well as funds for faculty release time to pursue science and articulation agreements with the secondary school. The agreement was arranged by Pure and Applied Science and Technology Dean Des Wilson and VP Mia Gordon. Comunity Support name change The Community Support Worker program has recently changed is name to Classroom and Community Support (CCS). The name change lets potential applicants know that CCS prepares its graduates to support people with intellectual disabilities in communities, including schools. Faculty in CCS hope that the new name will help potential learners who want to work in schools as classroom assistants identify CCS as the program that best suits their career choice. Val Schaefer, (far left), John McKendry , VP Instruction (left of cheque), and the Urban Ecology crew accept a cheque from BC Hydro's Gary Holisko (right of cheque), for the College's Green Links Program.
