de) a Royals Continue to Roll Douglas College Athletics The Douglas College soccer teams continue to roll as they were victorious over the Kwantlen Eagles this past weekend. The women’s team have started the season strong as they continue to impress with a 3-0 record and sit tied for first place in the league with last year’s National Champions, “a ne , es : better than Kwantlen and Langara College. This weekend they took care of business by 4 defeating the Eagles by a score of 4-0. ie Langara. In your face The men’s team had to grind out a 3-2 win over the high- ly touted Kwantlen Eagles. Nearing twenty minutes into the ; B**C H E S | game, Royals’ defender Junaid Rasheed, was assessed with a _ : red card forcing the Royals to play a man short for over 70 minutes. Falling behind early, the Royals rebounded behind last year’s national tournament MVP, Casey Wilson, who scored the tying the goal on a free kick. The goal was then followed up by returning midfielder, Andrew Bowler, who put the Royals up for awhile until the Eagles knotted the score once again at 2-2. With only five minutes remaining in regulation time, fourth year veteran Robby Toor, scored what was to be the game winning goal. “Tt was a character building win,” said Head Coach Joe Ormerod. “The boys really had to dig in to get this win.” Both Royals’ teams return home this weekend in their home opener against the Okanagan Lakers on Saturday and TRU Wolfpack on Sunday.
