3. FACULTY STATUS CHANGES APPOINTMENTS: Shirley J. PATZ has been appointed instructor in nursing and programmer in health services effective 26th November, 1973. Shirley previously taught at the Victoria General Hospital and the Red River Community College in Winnipeg. For the time being, she is working with the Social Sciences Department. Cathleen SMITH has been appointed instructor in Day Care effective lst January, 1974, Cathy was previously on the faculty of Selkirk College in Castlegar and has been active in day care programs throughout the Kootenays. She will be working with Silvia McFadyen to increase the number of day care sections from one to two. LEAVE OF ABSENCE: James L. ADAMS has been granted leave of absence from lst September, 1974, to 3lst August, 1975. Jim joined the College in 1971 as an instructor in visual art and programmer in the Fine and Applied Arts Department. He will be studying at the Yale University of Art and Architecture. His wife, Betty, has been honoured by an appointment to the Yale University Child Study Centre. Jacqueline J. GRESKO has been granted half-time leave of absence for the period lst January to 30th April, 1974. Jackie will continue to teach writing a biography of Mary Suzanna Moody who was the wife of Colonel Moody of the Royal Engineers. It is understood that a book may be published as a result of Jackie's work. : Peter G. SINGER has been granted a year's leave of absence from lst September, 1974 to 3lst August, 1975. Peter joined our staff lst August, 1970 and has been employed as an instructor in economics, business, and law in the Business Department. It is understood that he will spend part of his leave of absence in Portland, Oregon. TERMINATIONS: Hardev S. (Dev) SHERGILL left the employ of the College on 28th January, 1974. Since August lst, 1971, Dev has been an instructor in Geography in the Social Sciences Department. RETURNS FROM LEAVE: Murray S. CARMACK has returned from a four-month period of educational leave, during which time he completed his composition for a String quartet and did considerable work on an historical approach to music theory. Garth J. F. HOMER has returned to his duties in the library after a four- month period of educational leave, when he was at U.B.C. taking courses in Graduate School.
