INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / January 21, 1992 Expansion Planning The Applied Programs Division is "fast-tracking" plans to extend services in Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. he Division of Applied le Programs is moving ahead on schedule with the development of extended educational services into Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. Development to date has included the identification of a set of working principles and assumptions along with companion criteria which form a decision-making framework for con- sidering the future campus location of teaching units. The Division’s Coquitlam Campus Planning Group (CCPG) has been very busy through 1990 and 1991 preparing this detail which cul- minated in a major submission to the President’s Commission. In response to the Ministry’s July 1991 request of the College to accept up to 800 FTE in expansion for Sep- tember, 1992 (with areas of expansion to be identified by Oc- tober, 1991), the Division adopted a "fast-track" approach based upon ex- isting three-year operations plans and program inventories. In this mode, members of the CCPG worked with their respective DEC’s, setting Com mittee work aside in the interest of time. The arrangement worked speedily and in a generally satisfac- tory manner. At present, the Division has iden- tified a general schema for programming from 1991 through 2006 for the College’s "Masterplan" submission to the Ministry. The divisional plan is relatively straight forward and concrete for the 1991- 1998 period, being derived from the current three-year plan and program inventories, and conceptual there- after through 2006. This work is being reviewed by respective DEC’s. The Division has identified the areas of expansion for Maple Ricge This programming originally involved 175 FTE allocated to Commerce and Business Administration with 76 FTE available for September, 1992.
