News International Women’s Day Douglas celebrations Dinner, door prizes, entertain- ment, a keynote speaker and a special awards ceremony are all on the menu for International Women’s Day with the Douglas College Women’s Centre and the . Women’s Success Course. This celebration dinner will be held on Friday March 5, 1999 in the second floor cafete- ria of the New Westminster Campus. Viola Thomas, President of the United Native Nations, will speak on “Visions and Voices: Sisters in the Circle.” During the evening, the Unsung Heroine Award will be presented to a woman who has gone out of her way to make others feel welcome, or to make life easier for others at Douglas Theft increases More parking lot woes Annette Martin Thefts from cars in the Douglas College underground parking lot have increased by 100% in the past two weeks. Since a problem was reported in the February 17 issue of the Other Press, there have been two cases of theft from cars, and one case of vandalism. Thieves broke into two Honda Civics parked on P2 on Oa 9 eee gece | lee Biase weeks a February 22. A CD player was stolen from one vehicle, and a Sony Walkman from the other. The thefts have been reported to New Westminster police.
