The Trustees are looking for candidates who are communicators in their profession and might be expected to be in a position to influence opinion in their home country. They, should be people who already have experience in their field of employment but have not yet reached the climax of their careers. "Age limits are therefore set at between 28 and 40." The Bursary is intended for persons who have not previously visited the United Kingdom except for a short holiday visit. Applications should include the following: a. a short statement of the applicant's proposed objectives in applying for the Bursary, what he/she hopes to obtain from the experience and what he/she considers to be his/her contribution to the aims of the Trust ("promoting a common understanding between the unity and ideals in the United Kingdom and the other members of the British Commonwealth of Nations" and "disseminating in Canada knowledge of the United Kingdom acquired in the course of a visit financed by the Trust"); : b. the special area or areas of study to be pursued in the United Kingdom; c. any known contacts in the United Kingdom; d. previous travel abroad, including any visit to the United Kingdom; e. address to which correspondence should be sent; and f. a full curriculum vitae. The statement should also include a plan for preparation of a detailed program in the UK including an indication of any contacts available for assistance in the planning process. The Trust has asked the CAAE to provide evidence of assurances that a recom- mended candidate will not suffer financial loss as a result of taking up the Bursary award and that he/she will continue to receive a salary while serving as a Bursar. This evidence should accompany an application. In addition to this detailed statement, a summary précis of 200 words should be included giving reasons for applying for the Bursary and stating what the candidate hopes to obtain from the experience, and can contribute to the aims of the Trust.
