Since his death in 1862, Henry David Thoreau's ideas on
personal freedom, simple living and communion with nature have
circled the globe, and his revolutionary essay on passive re-
sistance, Civil Disobedience, has affected such leaders as Martin
Luther King and Mahatma Ghandi. Here then is a timeless message.
Told with an effective montage of photos, paintings and recent
film footage, accompanied by words and songs by Pete Seeger, it
recalls Thoreau's life, times and ideas. 20 min 1976
