WomenSpeak Fundraising Gala
on October 21 at the Performing
Arts Theatre.

award-winning poet Lily
Spence, pianist Rebecca Fasihi
and pita player Qui Xia He.

Adult Literacy Coordinator sought

The Ministry of Skills, Training and Labour is seeking a Provincial Coordinator for
Adult Literacy Programs to work in Victoria.

Applicants must have a post-secondary degree in an appropriate discipline, considerable
experience in the adult literacy field and knowledge of instructional and curriculum design.

Responsibilities will include reviewing institutional program proposals, addressing
curriculum development needs, addressing the development of literacy practitioners, and
providing ongoing needs analysis in literacy programs. The position also involves policy
development and the managing of $1.3 million cost-shared literacy projects.

If this position is filled by an applicant from a post-secondary institution, a secondment

Job-sharing still open

Douglas College staff members are reminded you may still apply to the Personnel
Department for job-sharing status under the current B.C. Government Employees Union
contract.

The provision allows two full-time regular employees to share a job, each working 18
hours per week, if specific conditions can be met. The agreement allows up to five BCGEU
positions in the College to be job shared. Detailed information is available in the BCGEU
contract under Letter of Understanding Number 11.

Chinese art on
display

The Douglas College Art Exhibit
Committee is pleased to announce that
three of the Chinese paintings by Wang
Jinglong exhibited in the Amelia Douglas
Gallery in March have been acquired by
the College. The works have been
permanently hung in the circulation area
of the library. The paintings are entitled:
Gathering Honey, Cutting Rice and
Emperor Tang Runs a Restaurant.

The Committe sends its thanks to the
library staff for making these acquisitions
accessible to the College community. lf
