The Mighty Fraser River The Fraser River - an awe-inspiring tribute to nature. Strong and life-giving, the mighty Fraser inspires many artists to commemorate its majestic beauty. This summer, the Douglas College Art Exhibition Advisory Committee is calling upon all artists and craftspersons to enter an Open-juried Art Exhibition celebrating the Fraser River. All art forms are eligible and the committee invites people of all ages and background to register their works by September 8, Exhibits will be located throughout New Westminster including Douglas College, the Public Library and the "Gallery In The Park" of the New West- minster Arts Council. "We want to provide the community with an enhanced view of the Fraser River and a vivid art appreciation experience,” says Sandra Shaw, spokesperson for the committee. Entries must be original works of art, maximum of three per craftsperson, and may include drawings, paintings, photographs, portable sculptures, pottery, glasswork, fibre arts, video, illuminated calligraphy, temporary installations, performance pieces and poetry. The Douglas College Art Exhibition Advisory Committtee will act as jurors and all art must be submitted to the New Westminster campus on September 8 between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. Public display of entries will take place in October and the Art Exhibition Committee is looking for store front venues in New Westminster interested in showing the works.
