An electronic security system will be installed in the libraries at Richmond and Surrey. The system ensures that people go through the proper procedure in taking books from the library. This installation will significantly improve the library service by enabling us to keep an accurate record of where books are. Perhaps you have had the experience of not being able to find a book on the shelf and after enquiring at the circulation desk, discover that there is no record of who has the book or when it will be returned. This should happen less frequently from now on. Books that "disappear" tend to be those most in demand, seriously inconveniencing our users. There will be no significant change in the check-out procedure and we expect no inconvenience to the borrower. If you have any questions about the system please ask your Campus Librarian.
